The 4th Grade students have been working very hard on a composition project! This project is a way for me to assess their understanding of form.
Since we have been listening to, and analyzing the form (organization) of so many songs, the students are ready to show how they can organize their very own music into a song that makes sense. If you were to stop by the music room during these class sessions, you would probably lose your mind! We have anywhere from 5 – 7 groups clustered around the music room, storage room and vestibule. All groups are working at the same time on their group songs. To the outsider, it sounds like mass chaos! But I am always amazed that they can still work through the noise to create their own masterpieces! Next week we will share our compositions with the class! I cannot wait! Below is a snapshot of the composition guidelines and the rubric for assessment.
